(CTR-1/HMGB1)  
Under its PCT WO 02/074337 (patent already granted in Europe, Mexico and Australia) Bio3 Research has conducted, in collaboration with Veterinary Faculty of Milano University, preliminary pharmacological animal studies by utilizing HMGB1 in Cartilage Repair with encouraging results.

 

(CTR-2/HMGB1)

The company has also performed in collaboration with the CRO BioQuant (La Jolla,CA) Proof of Concept in animals to assess efficacy of the protein HMGB1 in Wound Healing. PoC positive outcomes suggest the company to undertake Toxy, PK, PD studies  which will soon start studies  aimed also at elucidate   the mechanism of action of HMGB1 and the specific cascade of events that it triggers in order to affect the wound healing process. 

The company has already conducted a Pilot Tox study in animal showing no toxicity up to 80 times the pharmacological active dose.  

 

(CTR-3/HMGB1)

The encouraging pharmacological  data in animals obtained in different connective tissues have lead the company to device a new project aimed at assessing HMGB1 efficacy in Bone Matrix.     

 

Preliminary encouraging pharmacological data in animals already obtained with CTR-1 and CTR-2 suggest the potential use of HMGB1 for the preparation of therapeutic agents which facilitate and/or induce connective tissues regeneration also in other damaged connective tissues:

  • Bedsores
  • Burns
  • Tendons and ligaments repair
  • Ocular scars
