CT406 is a specific HMGB1 inhibitor with potential as therapeutic agent in cardiovascular disorders pathologies directly or indirectly related to HMGB1.
A series of bent duplex DNA/PNA hybrids, DNA/PNA chimeras and PNA derivatives have been synthesized and tested for their capability to inhibit in vitro cell proliferation and migration induced by HMGB1. The angle of the bent duplex DNA/PNA molecules, able to obtain the highest inhibition of HMGB1, has been investigated.
The lead optimization phase has been performed and the results so far obtained are extremely encouraging and allow considering CT406 as a highly competitive approach versus the use of Mabs anti-HMGB1 or RAGE inhibitors.
Bio3 Research has obtained from Creabilis Therapeutics an exclusive worldwide license for the use of CT406 in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders related to HMGB1 over-expression.
