BIOCYSAN™ is an antioxidant compound that restores GSH to appropriate levels in Chronic Kidney Disease stage 5 (CKD5) patients formerly defined as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients. CKD5 patients suffer anemia due to lack of erythropoietin synthesis. Extensive international literature supports the finding that anemia improves after the administration of antioxidants.

BIOCYSAN™ increases the resistance of erythrocytes, which show shorter half-life as a consequence extracorporeal circulation.

A PCT application been filed in December 2004, and it has been already granted in Europe and Mexico.  Nationalization phase is in progress in USA, Canada and Japan.

Bio3 Research has filed in April 2007 a PCT application which covers the use of BIOCYSAN™ Plus (Cysteine/Cystina+Glutathione) in End Stage Renal Disease.
